Ambae is an exceptionally beautiful island and its legendary disappearing act is quite true. When seen from the East coast of Santo, the island is a clear blue pyramid rising from the ocean in the early morning light. But as the sun climbs higher, except for rare, clear days, the island quickly disappears behind a glare of sea haze.
Ambae Island is home to one of the seven active volcanoes in Vanuatu, Lake Manaro Volcano. The level 2 active Lake Manaro summit and volcano is about 3000 – 4000 feet above sea level. Hiking to Manaro takes a full day‟s effort while camping at the lakes and volcano crater is an option. Custom village, Game Fishing, Rock Climbing, Bike riding and a massage by the hot spring water can be organized for visitors.
