Description

Ambrym Island in Malampa Province has two of the worlds most active volcanoes! Mt Benbow (at 1160 m) and Mt Marum at 1270 m) volcanoes are constantly making their presence felt. They are located in the middle of the island and form a huge caldera some 10 to 12 km diameter. There are more than five different options to trek up to view these powerful volcanoes with their bubbling lava lakes that light up the night sky.

Description

You can fly to either Craig Cove or Ulei Airports and travel to the departure points in Port Vato in the west, Ranvetlam in the north, and Endu in the south-east. For a day tour, you can start from the north and return the same way, but those who wish spend more days on top to see more of the volcanoes, there are multi-day camp-over options. It is strongly recommended that you use local accredited guides. These guides are accredited by the Department of Tourism, have business licences, have gone through intensive tour guide training, and have acquired First Aid Training Certification.
