Port Vila Boatyard is the only slipway facility in Vanuatu, and is featured in Shipyard Facilities in the Pacific Islands Region, published by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community.
It uses an hydraulic trailer and winch for vessels up to 28 tonnes, and can accommodate both mono-hulls, and multi hulls.
We also have cyclone moorings available in front of the yard, inspected yearly. Storage is in cradles, and can be short term or long term.
Repairs and maintenance can be done by yourself, or by our staff, and we offer stainless steel welding, machine turning, engineering service, installation of equipment complete paint jobs, or just repairs as needed for steel, wooden or fibreglass boats.
Our chandlery offers a range of paints ropes anodes, hardware, oils and other fluids. We also stock outboard motors. Specific items can be ordered as requested.
Long term storage here is a popular choice for those going home for the cyclone season, and continuing in their travels the following year, as well as for local boats.
Cyclone tie down points are set in concrete throughout the yard, and are used in the event of a cyclone warning.
Boat owners who wish to live-aboard are welcome. There is an ablution block with hot showers, BBQ area, free WIFI, and rubbish collection. The yard is set amongst local homes, and is floodlit at night, making a safe environment. Swimming and snorkelling right off our lovely beach, and a short ride by dinghy or bus to town makes this an enjoyable “on the hard” experience.
