Vanuatu officially launches preparations for World Expo 2010

The Vanuatu World Expo Committee, consisting of government and private sector members from the Ministry of Trade, Commerce, and Tourism industry organized and put on a parade on Tuesday 30th June 2009, to mark the official launch of the Shanghai World Expo 2010 preparatory activities. The world expo is schedule for May 1st – October 31st, 2010 next year, and will be held in Shanghai, China. The government of the People’s Republic of China, through its embassy here, was acknowledged by the VTO GM, thanking the Chinese government for funding US$650,000 to participate as part of the Pacific Pavilion in Shanghai, where Vanuatu representatives will showcase their products and promote the destination.
The march was led by the Vanuatu Mobile Force band from Moorings car park, through town, and up to the Chief’s Nakamal next to the Vanuatu Cultural Center area. The event gathered over a hundred invitees, government, industry members, as well as the general public who joined in the parade along the way. Before the honourable Minister, James Bule, made the official launch of the Expo preparations, a very informative power point presentation, and remarks were presented by members of the World Expo Committee. Minister Bule urged all trade, commerce and tourism partners to part take in next year’s 5 months World Expo in Shanghai, China.
