Frederick Jean-Claude Maclean takes the helm as Ratua Private Island’s first general manager where he and his wife, Victoria, will look after this luxurious 146-acre getaway in the magical Vanuatu Archipelago. With 30 years of hospitality experience – 22 with five-star properties – Frederick is well suited to look after Ratua guests.  He has a remarkable ability to motivate staff and promote a strong and healthy sense of teamwork. Frederick’s accomplishments include his most recent work at Lizard Island Resort, Bedarra Island Resort and Hayman Island – all of which earned him numerous award and accolades. His experience in pre- and re-opening is extensive. He participated in the opening of seven hotels in the Asia-Pacific region, including French Polynesia, Malaysia, Thailand, China and three in Australia. Having just opened to the public, Ratua Private Island, which is located on a small island off the coast of Santo, offers an exclusive refined French “art of living” experience, making guests feel at a home away from home.

Exploring Ratua can be done on horseback, electric buggy, bike, trek, or boat and there are many lagoons, beaches and colorful reefs. Renting the island is easy. Once reserved, there is no need to book or plan anything as more than 60 guest service staff are ready to arrange for any activity.

Ratua was founded by one man’s vision made into a dream and Frederick Maclean will continue to make that dream grow as he oversees this paradise “for rent.” For media enquiries, contact Valentina Zarew on +61 2 9280 2205 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
