Aussie Swimmers donate educational equipment to Mele Maat Kindy, Efate

South Australia Masters swimmers and Melemaat Kindy teachers and kids.A group of masters swimmers from South Australia who were here for the Vanuatu and Espiritu Santo Swims in June have donated educational equipment and books to the Mele Maat Kindergarten. As with many of the swimmers who were here for the events in June, the South Australian group took advantage of the many excellent tours to be had in and around Vila and Luganville. Following a visit to Mele Cascades, the group visited Mele Maat Village and were so impressed with the singing of the children and the work that the teachers were doing at the kindy that they decided to club together and send some books and equipment to the school. A fellow South Australian swimmer from the same club as the group but not at the event in June happened to be crewing on a yacht from Brisbane to Port Vila and he delivered the gift to the Vanuatu Tourism Office when he arrived in Port Vila late August.

The VTO will make a formal presentation to the Kindergarten on behalf of the South Australian swimmers.

Dates for next year’s Vanuatu Swims are, Vanuatu Ocean Swim Port Vila, Saturday 12th June with the Espiritu Santo Aore Swim to be held on Tuesday 15th June 2010.

The ever popular Canoe Race across the Segond Channel from Aore Resort to Unity Park will precede the swim on Monday 14th June 2010.

Promotion for the 2010 Vanuatu Swims is already underway, with enquiries already coming in from people wanting to plan holidays around the 2010 swims.
