On Friday 19th June, 2009, the
Hospitality Tourism Training Center, located in the capital Port Vila, invited VTO to be part of a gathering of around 40 people who came together to witness a fine presentation of chocolate and pastry delights which about 20 students including members of the Vanuatu resort and hotel industry, under took a 2 weeks course on how to prepare, cook, bake, and serve/present chocolate and pastry dishes.
On the silver platter were various types of bread, pastries, and chocolates featured by a magnificent chocolate and cream coral reef decorated with tropical fish and star fish all in white and dark chocolate. Mr Rohan de Silva, Training Centre Director, thanked everyone who came to HTLTC first Chocolate and Pastry exhibition, followed by a word of congratulations to the participants from the institution’s Pastry Chef/ Consultant, Chef Rene Aperea from the Auckland University of Technology. Participants were given certificates, and excitement filled the air as breads, pastries and chocolates were bought in a frenzy by the public and invitees.
