Wala Naversa Mini Arts Festival launches early promotion

Sacred dance of Malekula, Wala.The Naversa Small Nambas community, living on Wala island, north east of Malekula will be hosting, in collaboration with the Vanuatu Cultural Centre, their first ever 3 days Wala Naversa Mini Arts Festival from 20th-22nd September. The aim of having the festival is to showcase the present customs and traditions of the Small Nambas community, and to revive the olden traditions in a rich and vibrant 3 days festival. The festival invites international visitors, and the general public will witness traditional wedding ceremony, circumcision ceremony, ancient traditional tricks and games, sand drawing, outrigger canoe carving, ancient magic of Wala, authentic handicraft, food preparation, ancient village life, custom dances and more. During the festival, there will also be extra tours available for visits to the local villages, jungle tours, visits to meeting areas or nasaras, Wala round island tour, and more. The committee is currently putting together a package for the 3 days event including all meals, tours and accommodation. A traditional wedding ceremony for any couples wishing to get married during the festival can also be arranged by the organizers.
