Mayumi Green, Owner/Manager of Wrecks to Rainforest has launched 2 packages that promoted cultural festivals in north west Malekula and Ra Island in the Banks and Torres islands. The inbound operator who is based in Santo, promoted these cultural events to the local tourism industry and particularly to cruising yachts and boats who sailed up to the northern islands around the festival period, from 31st August - 3rd September. A grade taking ceremony in north west Malekula Island, showcased various custom dances, and also offered tourists and visitors trips to the community villages, and more.
Wrecks to Rainforest northern islands festival package also included an excursion to the remote northern province of Torres Islands. On 20th September, there were outrigger canoe and swim races, combined with traditional activities such as custom dance ceremonies which took place on Rah Island in the far northern tip of Torres islands.
