Jigging & Popping expedition – 23 Vanuatu islands in 5 days!

News from Oceanblue.com.vu, Sept 2009: From 13th – 19th November 2009, Ocean Blue is offering the perfect opportunity for a small group of anglers to join this sport fishing live on board expedition! Fishing onboard our 43ft Cabo Sportfisher, you’ll experience some of the most extreme and remote angling locations in the Vanuatu island group. Anglers will depart the northern Vanuatu island of Espiritu Santo, and fish the maze of islands, reefs, seamounts and blue water grounds for 5 days en route to Port Vila, Efate. This adventure is scheduled over the New Moon this November, and anglers will be targeting as many sport fishing species as possible using both popping and jigging equipment. Target species include dogtooth tuna, yellowfin tuna, GTs, wahoo, sailfish, red bass, jobfish and more.

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive in to Espiritu Santo. Pick up at Luganville airport in Santo
and transfer to Coral Quays resort for your first evening of accommodation.

Day 2- 6
Board your vessel early morning and commence your charter. Fish the next 5 days among some 23 islands that lie between Santo and Efate, focusing on various sea mounts, drop offs and remote reef systems. Islands such as Malekula, Ambrym, the Maskelynes, Epi, Tongariki, Emae and Mataso are all destinations that hold a variety of sport and game fish, and are rarely visited or targeted on popping and jigging tackle. Each evening you will return to a secluded anchorage for a swim or snorkel before a well-earned ale and evening meal. For the enthusiastic angler, drop a lure or bait over the side at night for red bass, sweetlip, GTs or dogtooth tuna. Accommodation is on board each evening. On the final day, after arriving in Port Vila, enjoy a few drinks with the crew before heading to the Moorings Resort for your overnight accommodation.

Day 7
Transfer will be provided from the Moorings Resort to Port Vila airport for your return flight.
