Vanuatu Tourism Office

The Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO) is established by an Act of Parliament as a Government Statutory body. The Act defines the function, Board structure and funding procedures of the VTO.


The main function of the Office is to encourage and assist the sustainable development of the tourism industry within Vanuatu by undertaking coordinated tourism marketing in overseas and domestic markets.


Other functions identified under the Act are set below that the VTO shall:


    * Establish a partnership arrangement between government and the industry to coordinate the promotion of Vanuatu as a tourism destination in key international markets;

    * Operate on a commercial basis and seek to maximize the use of the Office budget for marketing purposes;

    * Seek to maximize the level of private sector funding for marketing and support this where possible with government funding;

    * Seek to improve the level of profitability and growth of the tourism industry through effective destinational marketing;

    * Coordinate the activities that provide information services for visitors to Vanuatu and ensure that those services are of the highest possible standard;

    * Endeavor to preserve and stimulate pride in the cultural heritage of Vanuatu;

    * Encourage the greatest possible ni-Vanuatu participation in the tourism industry.

The VTO is governed by a Board of Directors of the following industry associations and organizations:


    * Vanuatu Hotels & Resorts Association (VHRA)

    * Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI)

    * Vanuatu Island Bungalows Association (VIBA)

    * Vanuatu Tour Operators Association (VTOA)

    * Vanuatu Scuba Operators Association (VSOA)

    * Vanuatu Land Transport Association (VLTA)

    * Air Vanuatu (Operations) LTD

    * Vanair Limited

    * Tafea Tourism Council

    * Santo Tourism Association
