If for you, golf is a vital ingredient for any good holiday then there are options in Vanuatu to ensure that you get your fix. There are a number of small courses at resorts around Port Vila as well as an established 18 hole championship course in Port Vila and a 9 hole course in Luganville on the Island of Espiritu Santo. Host to the PGA sanctioned Vanuatu Open, the Port Vila Country Club is the most professional course in Vanuatu. The course is located less than 15 minutes drive from Port Vila town, on Mele Bay overlooking the beautiful crystal blue water of the lagoon. It stretches 5800 metres. There are no motorised buggies available however local caddies from Mele Village do an excellent job that will make you feel like a professional.

Green fees for 18 holes will set you back approximately VT2500 (AUD$30) whilst a caddie is an extra VT1,000. Clubs can be hired and transfers to and from your accommodation can be arranged by your hosts.If you are feeling competitive and want to give your skills a work out. • Tuesday 1.00pm – Ladies 9 hole competition
• Wednesdays 3.00pm – Mens BDO sponsored 9 hole competition
• Saturdays – Mens and ladies weekly 18 hole completion. This is the main competition day for locals however there is always room for visitors.

Port Vila, Efate Island

On Efate there is also a 12 hole golf course at Le Lagon Resort & Spa across a hillside with views overlooking the resort and Erakor Lagoon. Motorized buggies and clubs are available for rent. Le Meridien Resort and Casino offers a 9 hole course in beautiful gardens, set along the water front with holes that play across and out onto a peninsula in the lagoon. Luganville, Espiritu Santo

If you are staying on the Island of Espiritu Santo then you can play on the 9 hole Santo Golf Course overlooking Palekulo Bay and Ambae Island. Non golfers can also enjoy swimming and snorkelling at the beach in front of the Club House. There is a tournament on the last Saturday of every month commencing at 9.00am with a BBQ lunch that follows. The Club House is not maned on non-tournament days so if you wish to play talk to reception in your hotel for details.
