Is there one word that encapsulates adventure, romance, escapism, and quiet dining under the tropic stars? There is. And that word is Bokissa Private Island. The resort lays amid a garland of coral reefs washed by sky-blue seas lulled into care-free bliss by tropic breezes that play through the palms along the private beachfront.

Where else will you find the perfect island escape for that quiet honeymoon, that finally feet-up retirement holiday, the opportunity to read a book from our library in a hammock beneath the palms on the quietest beach you’ve ever experienced, yet virtually on Australia’s shores with direct flights from Brisbane , Sydney and Melbourne to Santo.

Or the chance to walk on the very beach on which author James A. Michener often sought inspiration for his masterpiece Tales of the South Pacific while serving with the American Navy on nearby Espiritu Santo in the 1940s… so dare we say it, is Bokissa Island really where South Pacific began?
And if you are seeking your own adventures further afield we’ve escorted dives with our professional Dive Instructors on the legendary President Coolidge that’s the world’s greatest and most accessible wreck dive, or maybe the smaller MV Henry Bonneaud  a world rated night dive or other wreck or coral reef sites.

Or our Malo River by sea kayak is an experience never to be forgotten as you weave your way along rivers draped with jungle vines and wild orchids, where you can swim in an azure Blue Hole fed by underground springs, paddle below a rusty bridge that’s a legacy of the Pacific War, and enjoy an idyllic beach barbecue.

Or possibly you’d like to have us pack a picnic hamper so you can find your own pristine beach on Bokissa Island for a day totally to yourselves, or join our crew hand-lining in fish-laden waters off our reefs, or troll for marlin, and sailfish and the likes – we’ve already one World Record to our name !
And at day’s end take a dip in our 25m fresh water pool, a drink at the swim-up bar, and share dinner under the stars on our deck with new-found friends as you dine on fresh rock lobster or local crayfish, just-caught fish, famous Santo beef, the local pork or chicken, freshest organic tropical fruits and vegetables (not to mention our famous coconut pie!). And of course we’ve a well-stocked bar with an extensive wine list to ensure your absolute dining pleasure.

After all, isn’t that what a honeymoon or a holiday is all about? And as romance is high on the list of reasons to visit Bokissa, we’ve even our own ‘Outer Island Chapel’ in which a wedding can be held amid decorations of frangipani and hibiscus – and complete with a local Melanesian Children’s Choir.

Nothing is ever too much trouble, too different or too trivial for our dining, bar, watersports, rooms and entertainment staff. Just ask. But sorry, don’t mention in-room TV, radio, phones, or business centres as we just don’t disturb the peace of Bokissa Private Island for our other guests with such diversions. If you do need to make a phone call, we’ve a card-operated phone in our boutique gift shop (Vanuatu Phone Cards are available here also,) and if you really can’t get away from the computer, we’ve email connections in our office as well.
