The resort has extensive areas for camping and is located on Moso Island on the North west side of Efate Island. Arrangements must be made for transfers to and from the Island The main camp area is near the Eco Resort with the other locations in sheltered coves and beaches on western side of the island.
Tranquillity Island Resort has several locations for camping.
The main camp site
Is adjacent to the Resort and has clear grassy areas for pitching your tent and also shared toilet and shower facilities with a nearby Dormitory.
The camping area has its own beach area and a small leaf house and table suitable for having lunch or dinner. There is a BBQue plate and a sink for washing plates etc. You can also have the option of buying Meals from the nearby resort but these must be booked in advance. It is not permitted to use the Resorts kitchen for cooking meals by campers. You must use your own equipment or use the camp BBQue. The tap water available is fresh but does not make a good cup of tea. There is rain water available for drinking or you can buy bottled water from the resort.
When camping you can use the facilities of the resort such as Kayaks or Scuba diving at an extra charge. Scuba diving should be advised in advance.
Fred’s Beach Retreat
This is a small beautiful beach where a retreat outpost is. Camping on the beach is very good. There are limited facilities but this area is only an hour’s walk away from the main resort. It is on the Western side of the island.
Starfish Beach
This small beach is located in a sheltered cove and has a leaf hut for dining and a bucket flush toilet as well as a BBQue plate. This beach is more remote and is used for our special Abandoned Beach Safaris which are an up market two day one night Safari with everything provided and is aimed at those on Honeymoon or after a special trip. Transport has to be arranged for this area.
Small Island Beach
This is our remote location. There are no Facilities and provisions and supplies have to come with the transport for you to get there. Is facing west and is fantastic for Sunsets.
This was one of the beaches used by the French Survivors for their TV series.
All locations are good for snorkeling and beach combing however the locations on the Western side are subject to weather conditions as during the wet season if the wind is coming from the west they can become inaccessible by sea, however most of the year it is sheltered from the trade winds. There are also land tracks to return to the resort on the eastern side if necessary.
